Daniela Hoyos, a childhood cancer survivor who was Bella’s friend and fought alongside her, may be a familiar face to many of you. Over the years, she has become a powerful advocate for childhood cancer, emceeing Bella’s Ball and spending her summers volunteering with us!
Today, Daniela is a senior at the University of Florida in the College of Public Health and Health Professions. Recently, she shared an inspiring article about her journey battling stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and the unexpected challenge she faced after becoming cancer-free. She highlights the importance of providing mental health care to childhood cancer survivors, both during treatment and throughout their lives. She also advocates for more discussions about the psychosocial impacts of childhood cancer and its potential long-term effects.
