José Fernandez was a Cuban American baseball player who inspired his many fans with his electrifying talent as a pitcher. As a member of the Miami Marlins José followed Bella‘s life and inspirational battle with pediatric cancer. Shortly after her passing, José was awarded rookie of the year by MLB. He donated 100% of the money from this award to fund the first Live Like Bella® research study. José became an honorary member of the Board of Directors until his untimely passing in 2016. He had a strong passion for helping children and will fondly be remembered for his work and advancing the cause of childhood cancer research.
