We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mario Ernesto Sánchez, a beloved member of our community and founder of Teatro Avante. Mario was not only a gifted artist and visionary in the world of theatre, but a man with an extraordinary heart for others — especially children battling cancer.

Each year, Mario would generously open the doors of his theatre to highlight a childhood cancer fighter in a truly special way. He invited them to create a piece of artwork that would be featured as part of Teatro Avante’s annual poster — giving them not just a platform for their creativity, but a moment to shine. He celebrated these brave children with poster signings and heartfelt recognition that made them feel like stars.
