Researcher Patrick Grant, Ph.D., at Florida Atlantic University is utilizing epigenetics to develop better treatments for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a rare and aggressive blood cancer. While 90% of ALL patients survive beyond five years, 10% face treatment-resistant forms of the disease, with survival rates plummeting for this high-risk group. Grant’s research, focuses on understanding how epigenetic changes—such as modifications to histone proteins—contribute to resistance, allowing the cancer to escape treatment. By identifying and targeting these pathways, Grant and his team aim to restore drug sensitivity and improve outcomes for high-risk patients.
We are proud to partner with Florida Atlantic University and some truly amazing and talented individuals to make these research trials possible. We invite you to explore this page to learn about all the incredible, groundbreaking research funded by the Live Like Bella Pediatric Cancer Research Initiative that will help make pediatric cancer a treatable and curable disease.
