Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), is a common type of hematologic cancer. Among patients with AML, 10-25% of them have the gene EVI1. As of now, no specialized treatment is available to patients with EVI1. The objective of the study is to determine the effects that the EVI1 gene has on the development of Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia, as well as evaluating medicines and the effect they have on AML cells with high expression of EVI1.
Funds from Live Like Bella Initiative will provide research scientist with opportunities to explore new ideas to identify novel therapeutic strategies for the treatment of children cancers.
