Radiotherapy is a common treatment for children with central nervous system tumors. Although, this is relatively successful, little is known about the effects of radiation on brain development over time. Even small doses of radiation can lead to significant damage to the brain. The objective of this study is to measure morphometric changes in the brain after radiation treatment. With this newfound information, new techniques can be implemented to reduce the risks of Radiotherapy and improve living conditions for cancer survivors.
In the Live Like Bella Pediatric Research Initiative, the State of Florida has voiced a strong financial commitment to improving the lives of pediatric cancer patients.
